ARKADE BARBERS - SENIOR BARBER

I currently work in a high street barbershop on a self employed basis to further my advanced barbering skills. This opportunity provides me with valuable experience to enhance and improve my skills in the field through cutting different styles on afro, curly, asian and caucasian hair. This experience has allowed me to become more confident with scissors, clippers, trimmers and foils. I haven’t been specifically taught how to cut afro hair however I have experience in doing so with scissors as well as clippers. There's a variety of clients with long hair and short hair seeking different hair styles and hair cuts which has allowed me to interpret reference images and apply different techniques and skills accordingly.

CBBC "THE DUMPING GROUND" -MAIN TEAM HAIR AND MAKEUP TRAINEE

March 2022 - August 2022 (6 months) Michael Birtley (Makeup Designer)

The cast on The Dumping Ground are very diverse which leaves lots of room for experimentation and practise. My responsibilities include maintaining continuity through logging images and any details through printed folders as well as digital (iPad). I always turn up to set first to ensure the day runs as smooth as possible for the Department by making everybody drinks, assigning character bags according to the call sheet, collecting sides for each Artist and calculating continuity for the day. I studied the call sheet to ensure any appropriate equipment such as tear bags, towels, hairdryers etc were packed ready to go on set. I was often assigned different actors each day to make up and style their hair which has given me a great introduction and gainful experience in Afro hair and Barbering. I’ve had many opportunities on set solo as well as within a team on this production. I was extremely lucky to assist the Makeup Designer when sculpting, running and applying a Prosthetic piece for an episode and learnt a lot in this time.

NFL (AMERICA) LIVE TV - HAIR ARTIST FILMED IN GERMANY

November 2022 - November 2022 (1 week)

I was invited to work for NFL Live TV in Germany for a week as a Hair Artist. It consisted of modern day styling/glam. I was responsible for being a personal Hair Artist for a presenter Colleen ensuring she looked perfect at all times. This was a step up from my usual Trainee work and was recommended by a fellow Makeup Artist from a previous job.

ITV "VERA" - HAIR AND MAKEUP (dailies - 2 days)

My time on Vera involved preparing 30 SA’s for a party scene within a strict timeframe. I was required to use my initiative and match the makeup with their costume and an appropriate hairstyle. I was also required to do touch ups on set on the 30 SA's and cover continuity images

5LBS OF PRESSURE - HAIR AND MAKEUP TRAINEE (DAILIES - 2 days)

Over several days I covered for the team's Hair and Makeup Trainee for this Crime Thriller. I logged any continuity within this time using the Sync on Set app and ensured the teams day went smoothly by organising Makeup trolleys to travel. quickly fetching any products or bags when necessary and making sure everybody has a cup of tea in their hand when their hands are free! This was based away from my home and relocated.

LONDON FASHION WEEK - MAKEUP ASSISTANT (1 day)

I worked alongside other Makeup Artists ensuring the models were cat-walk ready for Helen Anthony’s designs. I was responsible for closely following the Key Makeup Artists product choices and techniques to achieve the same outcome.

BELLA MARIE ACADEMY - MAKEUP TRAINER

At Bella Marie Academy I taught a class full of students the art of makeup and hair ranging from practical to theory. I taught the basics of SFX which was always well received. Throughout the day I monitor their work and give feedback when necessary help them improve.
